  A: Before servicing or repairing the trunk or liftgate hinge, first open the lift gate. Lift up on the center of the headliner molding just enough to release the tab from the quarter trim molding and then gently remove the rest of the clips holding it to the vehicle's body. When you have freed the tab, move the molding to the left to take it out completely; label the position of your hinges with a grease pencil to simplify reinstallation. You must support the lift gate while taking off the hinge. Under the lift gate, place a block, then take out the nuts from the body hinge and all the bolts from the gate hinge. After everything else, remove the hinge from the vehicle.
