2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Replace a Brake Caliper on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: For the 1500's front brake removal and replacement, petroleum-based lubrication should not touch rubber parts; instead, use non-petroleum-based lubrication. Wipe away grease from the slide pin bore with the grease packets or use Dow Corning-807(R) grease provided. The first step is to make certain that all surfaces of the new slide pins are properly coated. Next, fit the boot onto the slide pin and push it in the adapter. Insert the pin all the way into the adapter and press carefully on the boot just below the slide pin to burst out any trapped air. Attach the banjo to the neck with a new copper washer when fitting it. Join the disc brake caliper to the brake caliper adapter and then place the banjo bolt with new copper washers onto the caliper, tighten it to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Bolt the caliper guide pins into place and tighten them to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Once done, open the bleeder at the master cylinder, use the jack to mount the wheel and tire and lower the car down.
