2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove and Replace a Brake Caliper on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: When changing the brake caliper, make certain not to put petroleum grease on any rubber parts; a better choice is a non-petroleum set of greases, like Dow Corning-807. Make sure the slide pin bores are clean by getting rid of any old grease first. Coat the new slide pins on all surfaces with grease found in the kit or with Dow Corning-807(R) grease. After that, fit the boot over the slide pin and place it inside the adapter. Place the slide pin into the adapter slot and softly push the boot near the pin to air out any caught air. Secure the caliper mounting bolts until they reach 176 Nm (130 ft.lbs) on a LD motorcycle and 339 Nm (250 ft.lbs) on a HD motorcycle. The next step is to add the inboard and outboard pads and afterwards install the caliper and the caliper slide bolts. After that, put the wheel and tire assembly back onto the vehicle.
