2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How is a Knock Sensor Installed and Replaced in an Engine on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Under the intake manifold, the two knock sensors are bolted to the cylinder block and are connected electrically at the same socket. The left sensor should always be replaced with its tag and a bigger bolt head, alongside the right sensor. Since the Powertrain Control Module depends on them, all the sensor left/right positions must be correct and not exchanged. Remove the part called the intake manifold first. Following that, unhook the dual pigtail plug on the knock sensor from the main wiring behind the engine. Take off both sensor mounting bolts and realize that the small foam strips on the bolt threads are not needed; do not add any sealing compounds to these bolts. After that, detach the sensors you have located within the engine.
