2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 3.7L or 4.7L Engine on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Remove the negative battery cable as the first step to working on the engine coolant thermostat in a 3.7L or 4.7L engine. Always make sure the cooling system is cold and the radiator draincock is not open until it is safe to drain, as the hot and pressurized fluid can give you burns. Lift and uphold the vehicle and remove the splash shield afterward. After that, disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing by removing the clamp from the lower radiator hose. In the end, grab the torx bit and loosen the bolts that keep the thermostat housing in place, together with the thermostat.
