2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 3.7L or 4.7L Engine on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: The first step to service the 3.7L or 4.7L engine's coolant thermostat is to take off the negative battery cable. Take care to drain the cooling system properly and don't let the radiator draincock come loose until the system cools. Lift the vehicle and take out the splash shield. After that, loosen and take out the clamp on the lower radiator hose and then remove the hose from the thermostat housing. Once done, take out the bolts securing the thermostat housing, take out the housing itself and remove the thermostat.
