2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Ball Joint in an Independent Front Suspension on 2008 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Before working on the ball joint in the independent suspension, lift the car, hold up the axle with support and remove both the tire and wheel. Then, take out the upper ball joint's retaining nut and use separator #9360 to split the upper ball joint from the knuckle. Afterward, lift the knuckle off one side so you can reach the ball joints below with the removal tool. Open the ball joint boot and if space is too narrow, place a block of wood between the control arm and frame bracket to allow room for the press tool. Use plenty of pressure lubrication on the screwed areas of the tool to keep it lasting long and operating correctly during any insertion or removal. Then, apply pressure to the ball joint on the upper control arm with special tools C-4212-F, 9770-1 and 9770-2.
