2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Timing Cover on 2008 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: First, get the negative side of the battery unplugged, then take off the engine cover and the air cleaner assembly. Start by draining your cooling system and then take out the accessory drive belt, along with the fan and fan drive. After that, remove the coolant container and the washer bottle and take out the fan shroud without separating any A/C hoses or letting out refrigerant. Take out the A/C compressor and then get rid of the generator. Remove the upper radiator hose, take off both heater hoses from the timing cover and take out the lower radiator hose from the engine. Disconnect the accessory drive belt tensioner, along with both idler pulleys and then remove the crankshaft damper. Do not pull the hoses off the pump; inhibit the first step is to remove and save the pump. Release the support bolt on the dipstick, empty the oil from the engine and remove the oil pan plus the pick-up tube. You do not have to take the water pump out to remove the timing cover. After removing all necessary bolts, take the timing cover off carefully so that the bushing slides inside this cover.
