2008 Dodge Sprinter 3500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an A/C Hose on 2008 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Service your A/C liquid line by first disconnecting and isolating the main negative battery cable, then recover the refrigerant. Take off the air cleaner housing from the engine part of your car. For the front section, loosen the nut that fastens the A/C discharge line to the condenser, take off the line and toss out the O-ring seal. Then, release the screw at the A/C liquid line to the condenser, take it apart and throw away the O-ring. Elevate and hold the vehicle and should you need more space, remove the heat shield from the left frame rail. Remove both nuts holding the front part of the A/C liquid line to the studs on the frame rail on the left side. If you have rear A/C, rotate the underbody lines to create room for service. Loosen the bolt holding the A/C liquid line on the front part to the middle part, take the two apart and throw away the O-ring. Lift the vehicle up, remove the front component from the engine area and cover or seal the openings on the refrigerant lines. For part two, take out the negative battery cable, drain the refrigerant and disconnect the air cleaner housing again. Raise the car, remove the heat shield if it's present and part the car body so the one at the front comes apart from the middle section by discarding the seal. Once that's done, remove the bolt holding the middle section to the rear section, pull them apart, get rid of the O-ring seal and take the middle section out of the engine compartment, making sure to plug any openings. Then, without power from the battery, take out the refrigerant, disconnect the air cleaner and remover it. For diesel engines, remove the nuts fastening the wire harness bracket and move it somewhere it won't get in the way. Unfasten all nuts tied to the A/C liquid line to the dash panel from the back and then from the suction line and also remove the nut holding the lines to the A/C expansion valve. Remove the lines from the valve and throw away the O-ring seals. Unbolt the section connecting the middle of the A/C suction line to the back part. Elevate the vehicle, detach the heat shield if present and remove the lower A/C liquid connections from the middle section and throw away the O-ring (you may also remove the compressor belt if you like). Reduce the height of the vehicle and remove both A/C liquid and suction lines that attach to the rear section as a group, then seal the openings with either plugs or tape.
