2008 Dodge Viper Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove and Service an Instrument Cluster on 2008 Dodge Viper?
A: To get started, lift the deck lid and take out the four bolts holding down the battery cover, after that remove the cover. Unplug the negative terminal of the battery after disconnecting the positive cable and let the air bag system reserve capacitor release energy for two minutes. After that, take out the cluster bezel and carefully use a trim stick to lift the left sill plate. Remove a screw and two push pins from the kick panel on the left cowl and pull the panel out of your car. Take off the cover on top of the steering wheel, ensuring you don't move the steering wheel so it doesn't damage the clock spring. Take out the two screws from the shrouds, disconnect five electrical connectors, loosen the bolt that holds the column pinch and take out the four nuts at the bottom to remove the steering column. After that, remove the brake lamp switch from its electrical connection. Remove one bolt and one nut from the left brace to the instrument panel and afterwards, remove the two retaining bolts at the steering column opening. Ease open the A-pillar trim by prying it gently, after you pull out the screw that was holding it on. Grab the trim stick to pull up the speaker grille in the left instrument panel and remove the connector located at the left A-pillar. Elevate the sill plate on the passenger side and lift it out and then lift the panel below the door panel out. Pull the ground bolt out of the right side and remove the three right side electrical connectors, lowermost and two uppermost, from the instrument panel. Take out the instrument panel bolts on the passenger side and then pull down the A-pillar trim and the panel's speaker grille. Eliminate the antenna connector to the radio, unscrew the four fasteners on top of the radio and retrieve the radio from the car. Take out the two connections at the occupant restraint controller and the two connectors at the wiper module, then disconnect their grounding wires. First, remove the four HVAC exterior intake plenum screws and take off the plenum and after that take out the two bolts, one nut and the wire under the windshield wiper cowl. Remove the ten bolts that secure the instrument panel and then with help gently take out the panel and put it on a bench.
