How to Safely Remove a Catalytic Converter from a 3.7L Engine on 2008 Jeep Commander?

Start by getting the vehicle up in the air and supported on stands if it has a 3.7L engine. Brush heat valve lubrication onto bolts and nuts and let it soak in for about 5 minutes. After that, take off the transmission crossmember, isolate and mark the oxygen sensor connections and remove the bolt (5) that supports the steady rest bracket mount on the transmission. After that, detach the nuts secured between the front catalytic converter and the muffler. Then, remove the bolts and flanged bolts at the exhaust manifold. Then, pull out the front exhaust pipe or catalytic converter assembly (3) from the vehicle and remove its steady rest bracket (4).
