2007 Jeep Commander Catalytic Converter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Catalytic Converter on a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Start by putting the steady rest bracket on the front exhaust pipe and the catalytic converter assembly. Following this, put in the front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter assembly into the car. At the front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter assembly, bolt and nut the assembly to the exhaust manifold flange, but do not tighten them yet. Repeat this step for the nuts connecting the assembly to the muffler flange. The clearance for the exhaust pipe should be at least 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) above any parts along the frame or near the vehicle floor. Tighten the front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter assembly to exhaust manifold bolts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.) and tighten the front exhaust pipe and catalytic converter assembly to muffler flange nuts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Attach the steady rest bracket bolts and tighten them up to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Plug in both ends of the oxygen sensor wiring, mount the transmission crossmember, lower the vehicle and lastly start the engine to look for leaks, fixing them as they are found.
