2008 Jeep Compass Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Change Your Brake Pads on 2008 Jeep Compass?
A: Before installing the brake pads, first put them into the shims you have clipped into the adapter bracket and make sure the one with the wear groove goes on the side that is closer to the car. Move the whole piston back inside the caliper bore and pay attention not to touch the boots when putting on the caliper onto the adapter. Put the disc brake caliper onto the brake caliper, with the bolt special sleeve running through the caliper guide pin and up into the upper hole. Match the caliper guide pin bolts' holes on the caliper to the holes on the bracket, then set in the upper and lower bolts and tighten them to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). Following that, place the tire and wheel together and tighten the wheel nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Park the car, lift the part of the minivan that covers the brakes, lower the car and press the brake pedal several times. Pump the brake pedal several times to check the fluid and refill it as required. Then drive the car a few times, stopping every so often to remove any collected foreign items from the brakes and help the pads sit correctly.
