How to Effectively Service and Repair a Shock Absorber on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The first action for servicing and repairing the right front shock is to unclip the air box cover and, then, disconnect the electrical connector for the cruise control servo. Second, take out the bolt that holds the coolant reservoir and move the reservoir slightly away. First, take off the four upper shock bolts, raise the vehicle, support it and remove the tire. Make sure to remove the two brake caliper adapter bolts while catching the adapter and caliper, so the caliper doesn't hang off the brake hose. After removing the disc brake rotor, detach the upper ball joint nut and divide the upper ball joint from the knuckle with special tool 8677. Remove the bolt underneath the lower control arm, then remove the other bolt on the lower part of the arm and unbolt the shock. If it helps, take the spring out.
