2008 Jeep Liberty Trunk Lid Lift Support Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Trunk Lid Lift Support for the Flipper Glass on 2008 Jeep Liberty?
A: The best way to replace the shock support for the flipper is to make sure the flip-up glass opens and is supported. Using a small flat-bladed tool, release the little clips and pull away the ball socket from the ball stud at the same time. Raise the clips so you can take out the ball studs. After that, get rid of the support cylinder from both the upper and lower ball studs. Watch out, because there is high-pressure gas inside the support rod pistons; do not remove the support rods while the glass is still sealed and always avoid taking apart the support rods once you have removed them.
