Q: How to Properly Install a Camshaft in the Engine of a 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Place a small amount of engine oil on the camshaft lobes and the bearing journals, then install the camshaft. Allow a long bolt to help you install the camshaft inside the engine block. After that, set in the camshaft thrust plate and corresponding bolts and tighten them to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) torque. If the end play of the camshaft does not match specifications, change the thrust plate. Change all hydraulic lifters and then install the timing chain and sprockets. Install hydraulic lifters so that the lubrication side is on top. After changing the timing chains, install the timing chain cover, then the cylinder heads and finally, the cylinder head covers. The next step is to put in both the intake manifolds and then restore the radiator and cooling fan.
