2008 Jeep Wrangler Radiator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Detach a Radiator on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before removing the radiator, remove the negative battery cable and pour the cooling fluid in your radiator into a container for reuse. Following this, take out the coolant recovery container, then the radiator upper seal and then remove the electric cooling fan. After that, remove the lower radiator seal and lower radiator hose and take off the front grill. When that's done, unfasten the two A/C condenser bolts and raise the A/C condenser out of the J-clips. Turn the horn bolt with a socket to make it looser, then move it out of the way and remove the bracket that holds the A/C tubing. Once done, take out the bolts holding the radiator too. Specially made rubber grommets in the radiator lower crossmember allow the bottom dowel pins on the radiator tank to fit. Lift the radiator clear of the vehicle and keep its fins free from damage. When uninstalling the radiator, pay attention to where the rubber seals sit, as they should be put back in those spots for the vehicle's sake.
