2009 Chrysler Sebring Battery Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain Battery Cables on 2009 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Always protect yourself with tough rubber gloves and safety goggles before starting work on battery cables, as these are hazardous. Remove the negative battery cable's remote terminal from the remote post by using the provided isolation hole in the terminal. Put the vehicle on a hoist, take out the battery and keep it away from the car. For vehicles with diesel engines, unplug the in-line connector from the instrument panel harness. Raise the vehicle and unplug the car negative cable from the main harness, plus unbolt the remote negative battery battery cable nut. Lift off the cover attached to the positive battery on the remote control, take out the nut securing the starter harness to the post and remove the cable from the post. Open the remote positive battery terminal from its mounting on the left side of the strut tower. If the vehicle is a diesel, remove the glow plug module connector, each cabin heater relay connector and the in-line connector to the instrument panel harness. Lift the TIPM from its mounting bracket and then turn it with the retaining nut facing up to remove the battery harness cable from the stud. Look for and get rid of all the remaining pushpins, fasteners and routing clips until the harness comes loose from the car. After that, take out the battery cable negative terminal nut from the negative remote battery post and isolate the battery harness negative wire. Open the retaining nut and take off the starter harness negative cable from the remote negative battery post. Uncover the remote positive battery terminal, remove the nut holding the starter harness cable and remove the cable from this post. Hoist the vehicle once more, remove the bolt holding the negative cable in place on the starter harness and pull it off the engine block. Take out the nut on the positive cable retaining part of the starter harness and separate the cable from the starter battery post. Then, remove any leftover starter harness retaining pushpins, fasteners and routing clips until the harness is released from the vehicle.
