2008 Chrysler Sebring Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Battery Cables on 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Always remember to wear rubber gloves and safety glasses before you work with the battery cables. Separate the negative battery cable from the remote battery post by inserting a dielectric unistrut into the hole on the end of the remote terminal. Raise the vehicle on a hoist first and then take out the battery. For diesel vehicles, remove the in-line connector from the extension beneath the cluster panel. Next, decrease the vehicle, take off the negative battery cable nut on the remote post and remove the battery harness negative cable. After opening up the remote battery cover, unscrew and take off the retaining nut on the starter harness positive cable and the cable from the remote positive battery post. Take out the side positive terminal of the battery from the bracket under the left strut tower. If you have a diesel engine, remove the glow plug module, the cabin heater relay and the connector to the instrument panel. Take out the TIPM from its mount and turn it around, then loosen and remove the battery harness cable from its stud. Go over the vehicle again and take out any remaining battery harness pushpins and fasteners and cut away any clips still attached, until the harness is out of the vehicle. Then, come off the negative battery cable remote terminal nut from the remote negative post and separate the battery harness negative cable. Take out the nut from under the starter harness and remove the cable from the negative battery on the key fob. Take off the positive cover of the remote battery, then remove the nut holding the starter harness positive in place and the cable coming from it. Raise your vehicle again using a lift, take off the starter harness negative cable retaining bolt and bring the wire out from the engine block. Unscrew the positive cable retaining nut and then unhook the cable from the starter's battery post. Afterward, use a spade connector to take out the remaining starter harness pushpins, fasteners and routing clips, so the harness is completely out of the vehicle.
