2009 Chrysler Sebring Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install the Rear Steering Knuckle on 2009 Chrysler Sebring?
A: To put in the rear suspension knuckle, secure it to both control arms and the toe link. Mount the bolt and the nut that hold the upper control arm to the knuckle, but do not tighten them yet. Next, put in the bolt and nut securing the lower control arm to the knuckle; make sure not to tighten anything yet. Install the bolt and nut that fastens the toe link to the knuckle, but don't tighten them yet. After this, put in the three bolts connecting the trailing link to the knuckle and tighten each bolt to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.). Fit the hub and bearing first and then slide the brake rotor or brake drum over the hub and bearing. If your vehicle uses rear disc brakes, put the disc brake caliper and adapter over the brake rotor and brake support plate and bolt it to the brake plate by the two bolts. Be sure to tighten them to 105 Nm (77 ft. lbs.). Place the brake tube routing bracket at the knuckle and attach it to the mounting screw, screwing it in until you reach 15 Nm or about 11 ft. lbs. Secure the tire and wheel assembly by locking the mounting nuts onto the wheel studs, with 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) of torque. Make sure the undercarriage is clear and put the vehicle on an alignment rack or lift, positioning it so you can reach the parts you haven't tightened yet. After everything is secure, turn the upper control arm and lower control arm bolt nuts at the knuckle to 105 Nm (77 ft. lbs.) and the toe link nut at the knuckle to 105 Nm (77 ft. lbs.), then align the wheels as needed.
