2009 Chrysler Town & Country Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Rear Brake Caliper on 2009 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Before removing and replacing the rear brake caliper, you should remove and separate the battery negative cable from the battery post. Using this brake pedal holding tool, push the brake pedal past its first inch and keep holding it so that no brake fluid drains from the master cylinder when the system is open. Lift the vehicle and take out the three bolts from the wheel mounts as well as the whole tire and wheel group. Unlatch the automatic tensioning system on the parking brake lever manually. Fold the ends of the grips tightly and afterwards pull the cable housing out of the mount. Take out the cable strand from the bracket and lift the other cable strand to free it from the caliper lever. Unplug the brake flex hose from the caliper by removing the banjo bolt and the two washers that it contains; the washers can no longer be reinstalled so throw them away and install the new ones supplied with the rotor. When replacing the guide pin, hold the pin right where it is and turn the bolt with the wrench. First, take the two caliper guide pin bolts out, then move the disc brake caliper away from both the disc brake adapter and the brake pads.
