2008 Chrysler Town & Country Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Rear Brake Caliper on 2008 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: To begin, make sure the negative cable from the battery has been disconnected and isolated from the post. Depress the brake pedal with the brake pedal holding tool, moving it past one inch and kep it down to block the master cylinder from discharging brake fluid when the master cylinder door is open. With the vehicle hoisted and safe, loosen the three wheel summit nuts and lift out the tire and wheel. Release by hand the tension on the automatic self-adjusting part of the parking brake lever. Collapse both cable retainer fingers on the cable housing at the end and pull the cable housing out from the mounting bracket. Take the cable strand out of the bracket by sliding it and while it's on the slack, pull up the parking brake cable to free it from the lever. Take out the banjo bolt connecting the brake flex hose to the brake caliper and throw away both washers that come along with it, since they can't be reused. While holding the guide pin with a wrench, rotate the bolt to take out or insert a caliper guide pin bolt. Remove the two guide pin bolts, then move the disc brake caliper away from the bracket and pads.
