2009 Dodge Avenger Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Parking Brake Cable on 2009 Dodge Avenger?
A: Push the parking brake cable through the floor hole and make sure the cable grommet is correctly in place. Put the positioning clip over the stud and place the nut inside, then hold the cable onto the body with the second clip and a screw. Set the parking brake cable into the hole between the trailing link and support plate and keep it in place with a hair pin. Reinstall the parking brake elements you removed and after that, fit the wheel and tire together, tightening the nuts on the wheel to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Lower the car, then put something in front of the tire and wheel assemblies so they don't move, even if you take off the parking brake. Seat the seal grommet securely in the floor pan and install the parking brake cable underneath the carpeting to the holder bracket, where it should be locked. A new parking brake cable equalizer should be attached, after which the integrated bent nail tensioner is stretched to achieve the proper tension. Take the old equalizer off and connect the new one to the parking brake lever output cable. Once you have done that, securely attach the rear parking brake cables to the equalizer. Once you tighten the adjustment nut, pull up the parking brake quickly to stretch the equalizer. Let the brake lever move all the way in and tighten the adjusting nut so 22 millimeters of thread becomes visible. Repeat the lever action to ensure the rear tires turn easily and then press on the parking brake to prevent them from turning. Release the lever and confirm the wheels turn freely, then put on your parking brake again, lower the car, install the center console, remove blocks from the tires and finally attach the battery negative cable.
