2009 Dodge Challenger Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install Battery Cables in the Engine and Rear Compartments on 2009 Dodge Challenger?
A: To connect the battery's negative cable in the engine compartment, put the cable in place and lift the vehicle with a hoist. Secure the cable to the transmission housing using a fastener and a bolt tightened to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.), then put the battery cable retaining pushpins, fasteners and routing clips in place until the cable is in the correct position. Drop the vehicle and link the battery negative cable to the right front strut tower. Then, carry on with the battery connection process. Then, install the spare tire cover. For the battery, run the negative cable to the rear compartment, attach the cable with the fastener to the body, connect it to the power source and only then attach the spare tire cover. To connect the battery positive cable to the bulkhead, put the cable under the floor cross members, remove the nearest bulkhead insulator and install the fastener there. Guide the cable to the rear-seat routing clips and secure it, slide the carpet back into place, install all the quarter, cowl and rear seat cushion panels with retainer loops attached and finish by raising the console. Attach the front seat according to manufacturer instruction, link the battery positive wires to the PDC fastener and put back the PDC cover. Refer to the connection instructions, join the positive and negative battery lines and then fit the wheel cover. The positive cable in the engine compartment goes above the starter and gets held in place by a routing clip before you install it at the starter and bulkhead. Attach the offset-neutral front wheelhouse splash shield, lower the car, wire the battery negative cable to the negative post and add the spare tire cover.
