2009 Dodge Challenger Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Replace the Automatic Transmission Filter in a NAG1 Transmission on 2009 Dodge Challenger?
A: Before servicing or repairing the fluid and filter of the NAG1 Automatic Transmission, turn on the engine and let it run until the transmission oil is at operating temperature. After that, lift and secure the vehicle. Take the five bolts and four retainers out which attach the oil pan to the transmission and remove both the oil pan and gasket afterward. After that, pull out the transmission oil filter and o-ring from the electrohydraulic control unit. Wash the insides of the oil pan and check the oil pan gasket. If it is damaged, hermetically replace the gasket. After installing a new oil filter and o-ring into the electrohydraulic control unit, attach the transmission's oil pan and gasket. Attach the oil pan using bolts and retainers and tighten each bolt to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.). Following the lowering process, pour in 5.0 L (10.6 pts.) of transmission fluid to the transmission and then check the oil level.
