  A: Before handling the battery cables, make sure they are turned off and that no electrical accessories are on. For the negative cable in the engine compartment, lift up the spare tire cover so you can replace the battery, disconnect the cable from the battery and pull out the pin locking it to the right front strut tower. Lift the vehicle on a hoist and unhook the attachment of the cable to the transmission housing. Get rid of the pushpins, fasteners and routing clips that keep in the battery cable, free it and take it out of the engine compartment. Rotate the ignition switch to Off in the rear compartment and take out the spare tire cover.
