2009 Dodge Challenger Fuel Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Pump on 2009 Dodge Challenger?
A: To fix or repair the fuel level sensor, start with confirming that the system is not pressurized; do not allow sparks, fires or smoking and cover up properly when doing the job. If these parts aren't working and you cannot see the fuel level, take the tank out first so the fuel doesn't leak if it is higher than 5/8 of a tank. Pull out the negative battery cable and, after that, lift the rear lower seat cushion from the back. Pull the foam pad away from the fuel pump module access covers and take away the left side cover. Take the connector out of the fuel pump module and notice which way the arrow on top will point for reassembly. Use compressed air to blow out any dirt near the opening of the fuel tank, before removing it. Indicate the proper orientation of the fuel pump module, fit the lock-ring remover/installer 9340 into the lock-ring notches and rotate it using a 1/2 inch driver backed by a breaker bar, counterclockwise to disconnect the lock-ring. Set the fuel pump module aside to reach the connections at the bottom, disconnect the wires from the top and then unplug the top area of the module. Press the quick connect release tab to take out the fuel supply line, disconnect the lower electrical connector and remove the fuel return lines. Make sure no fuel gets inside the vehicle, then put the pump at an angle to remove what fuel is left inside before you detach it. When you service the fuel pump module, be sure to replace the rubber O-ring seal and get rid of the old one.
