2010 Dodge Challenger Fuel Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Pump on 2010 Dodge Challenger?
A: Remember that the fuel level sensor is under high pressure all the time, so you should first lower the pressure in the fuel system before beginning service or repairs. No smoking, sparks or flames should be allowed, always use risk gear and stay in a well-ventilated place. Be sure to empty the fuel pressure before you make repairs. When both the electric pump module and send unit do not work and fuel level is difficult to read, take out the fuel tank before draining, since fuel may spill out if it is higher than 5/8 of the tank. Remove onboard fuel from the fuel tank if the storage area needs to be cleaned. Just before you try to remove the rear lower seat cushion, take off the negative battery cable. Pull back the foam on the fuel pump module's access panels and remove the left access cover. Take out the electrical connector from the fuel pump module, observing the arrow at the top so you can put it back in the right spot. Clear any mess around the fuel tank with compressed air before you mark the direction the fuel pump module should face. Put the lock-ring remover/installer 9340 into the notches of the lock-ring, use a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and rotate clockwise to disengage the lock-ring. Lift the fuel pump module to reach the lower ends, unplug the connectors at the top and take off the top part of the module. Hold the quick connect release tab to take out the fuel supply line, move past the lower electrical connector and remove the fuel return lines. After removing all spilled fuel, turn the fuel pump exhaust upward to drain the remaining liquid and then remove it from the car. Replace the old worn O-ring seal with a new one.
