2009 Dodge Challenger Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 3.5L Engine on 2009 Dodge Challenger?
A: The first thing to do is disconnect the negative battery cable and raise the vehicle before servicing the thermostat for the engine coolant. Take off the belly pan and empty the cooling system before you lower the car. After that, remove the air box assembly and pull the lower radiator hose off the thermostat housing. Loose the bolts on the thermostat housing and remove the housing, thermostat and gasket. Be aware that the thermostat stakes are put in at the factory, so you won't need to restake the thermostat you install-just gently grind out the bulged metal on the housing, as needed. When you're done, remove any debris from the gasket surfaces.
