2009 Dodge Charger Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on 2009 Dodge Charger?
A: Ensure your car is raised and supported while using safety measures first, before you service the front parking brake cable. Take the front parking brake cable (5) out of the connector (3) going to the right rear parking brake cable (4) above the axle differential. Carefully pull the front cable (3) out from the equalizer (2) and remove screw (2) securing the rear crossmember flange (3) bracket for the cable (1). Afterward, disconnect the nuts and bolts that attach the shield directly to the body of your vehicle and remove the shield next. First, pull out the screw (6) and the routing clip (4) nuts which hold cable (7) again the inside of the body (3). Prior to doing anything else, take out the door opening sill scuff plate and cowl side molding. First, pull away the carpet to reach the front cable, just remember not to unhook the front parking brake cable from the lever connector before you secure it. Pull down on the connector inside the parking brake lever assembly with pliers and place it in position (1) on the retaining fork attached to the parking brake lever bracket. Unwind the front parking brake cable strand (1) from the cable connector (2) and let the connector stay on the cable. Collapse the retainer fingers using a 13 mm 12-point box wrench (2) and then pull out the cable from the lever bracket. After that, remove the parking brake cable grommet (2) from the floor pan (3) and take out the parking brake cable (7) from the opening in the floor.
