2008 Dodge Charger Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Parking Brake Cable on 2008 Dodge Charger?
A: Raise and put the vehicle on a stand, making sure you comply with safety procedures for brakes. Near the front cable, disconnect the rear parking brake cable from the other cable; at equalizer 2 above the rear axle, release cable 1 for the left cable and at connector 3 above the axle, release cable 4 for the right cable. Take out the parking brake shoes from the side of cable service, then remove the shoe actuator lever 1 from cable 2 and support it. After that, undo screw 4 and lift the cable out of knuckle 3. Cable 2 should be taken from routing guide 1. Attach the 13 mm 12-point box wrench 4 to one strand of the cable and completely onto the cable retainer 3 which is fastened to the bracket at the left and right. If needed, jiggle the wrench to make the fingers of the retainer shorter, then pull the cable out of the bracket. In the end, take the parking brake cable out of the vehicle.
