2009 Dodge Charger Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on 2009 Dodge Charger?
A: For the same purpose, put the travel restrictor on the rack gear, with the beveled end facing outward and flush with the end of the rack gear. Utility Mopar(R) Lock & Seal Adhesive or a comparable thread locker adhesive should be applied to the inward facing threads of the inner tie rod. Put the inner tie rod in place with an inner tie rod installer tool or with a crows foot wrench on the hex, torquing it until you reach 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). Hold a new clamp in place over the wide end of the bellows, put the whole end of the bellows with the clamp on the gear and onto the inner tie rod. Make sure the small end of the bellows goes into the area shaped in the inner tie rod. Coat the recess in the inner tie rod shaft with a little Mopar(R) Lubriplate or a similar product which will allow you to change the toe without moving the bellows. Pull the end of the bellows that has the small handle all the way out and attach it to the groove inside the engine, following that by clamping a new clamp over the other end. Put the tail end of the belows over the gear body and crimp it tightly with crimping pliers. For All-Wheel-Drive-equipped vehicles where the heat shield was taken off, set the heat shield above the inner tie rod bellows, then tighten the screws to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.). Also, fit the tie rod jam nut on the inner tie rod, far enough so you can slide the outer tie rod into place.
