2009 Dodge Dakota Ball Joint Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before removing the front suspension lower ball joint, you must first take away the wheel and tire plus the brake caliper and rotor. After that, take out the outer tie rod nut from the knuckle and use puller C-3894-A to free the tie rod from the knuckle. After the old pin can be moved, finish by removing the upper ball joint nut and then removing the upper ball joint from the knuckle with puller 8677. In a similar step, take out the nut from the lower ball joint and split the ball joint from the steering knuckle by using puller 8677. After that, remove the steering knuckle and, if the car is a 4X4, pull the halfshaft to the side and prop it apart. After taking the snap ring off the ball joint flange, coating the threaded parts of the tool with plenty of pressure lubricant will help it last longer and function correctly. In the end, use special tools C-4212F (PRESS), 8445-3 (Driver) and 9604 (Receiver) to press the ball joint from the lower control arm.
