2009 Dodge Journey Clock Spring Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Clock Spring Assembly on 2009 Dodge Journey?
A: Before removing the Clock Spring assembly, disable the SRS by removing and isolating the battery negative cable and waiting two minutes, so the system capacitor discharges and air bag deployment is prevented by accident. Set the wheels straighter by turning the steering wheel and prevent the shaft from being rotated after that. After that, lift the steering wheel out of the steering shaft. If the Clock Spring is going to be used again, attach the Clock Spring rotor to the case to keep it from shifting; if not, you must center it once more when installing the steering wheel. Place the steering column all the way down and take out the upper and lower shrouds. After that, disconnect the right multi-function switch from the Clock Spring and similarly the left one too. Disconnect the three instrument panel wire harness connectors from the back of the Clock Spring case by pulling the Clock Spring away from the steering column once you have removed the three screws that attach the Clock Spring to the steering bracket.
