2009 Dodge Journey Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose on a 3.5L Engine for Pressure Hose on 2009 Dodge Journey?
A: While servicing or repairing the power steering pressure hose on a 3.5L engine, make sure none of the hoses is damaged by the exhaust system, driveshafts or any touching surfaces. Bring the pressure hose down through the engine area from above, leading it between the engine and upper radiator hose, then onto the left above the transmission to the steering device. Support and lift the car, then put the pressure hose at the gear, ensuring you tighten its nut to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Lift the vehicle again, then work at the bottom by the powertrain control module to position the power steering hose routing clamp at the left part of the front suspension crossmember. Secure it with a screw tightened to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). Use a clean towel without fuzz to wipe the open side of the power steering pressure hose and the port on the power steering pump, putting in new O-rings and rubbing them with clean power steering liquid. At the power steering pump, fasten the pressure hose and secure it with a clamp by tightening the tube nut to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.) and attach the routing clamp to the engine cylinder head and tighten its bolt to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). When the work is completed, fill the system, turn it on to Bleed and check for leaks.
