2009 Dodge Nitro ABS Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the ABS Control Module on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: Battery connection disconnect after you have to service and repair the Electronic Brake Control Module. To work on the 4.0L, take off the upper radiator hose bracket retainer nuts (2) and place them somewhere safe. Don't disconnect the purge lines or electrical connector when handling the evaporative emissions purge solenoid assembly. Take the evaporative emissions purge solenoid assembly (1) off its support (2) and set it aside while the wiring for the purge lines is still connected. Move up on the Anti-Lock Brake Module (ABM) connector release to disconnect the electrical connector. Unscrew the mounting screws (1) from the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Maintain caution and space the ABM and HCU apart with about 38 mm (1.5 inches) before pulling the ABM to ensure you avoid damaging the pressure sensor or connection to the Pump Motor. Touch the sensor terminals at the HCU side, as well as the contact pads at the ABM or AIM side, as little as possible to avoid future problems. Ensure to properly remove and separate all the ABM from the HCU.
