How to Remove an Automatic Transmission Shifter on 2009 Dodge Nitro?

Before you can take out the transmission shifter, first remove any console parts needed to reach the shifter and its cables. Move the transmission to PARK, then break the connection at the shift lever and shifter assembly bracket with the transmission shift cable. At this stage, take out the park-interlock cable from both the shift lever and its assembly bracket. Remove all of the shifter's wiring connectors, after which remove all the nuts attaching the shifter to the floor pan. Take the shifter assembly out from within the vehicle.
