2008 Dodge Nitro Automatic Transmission Shifter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an Automatic Transmission Shifter Assembly on 2008 Dodge Nitro?
A: First, set the shifter assembly on the assembly studs on the floor pan, place nuts over the studs and tighten them to a torque of 28 Nm (250 in.lbs.). Bring the wiring harness partway into the shifter assembly bracket and reinstall any disconnected wiring harness links. After that, connect the park-interlock cable between the shifter assembly bracket and the shifter lever and immediately apply the shift cable to the bracket, ensuring it remains secure. Running the shifter lever in park mode, loosen the screw on the shift cable and pin the cable to the shift lever. See that the shift lever is in PARK, then apply 7 Nm (65 in.lbs.) of torque to the adjustment screw while testing the shifter and BTSI. After finishing, return the console materials you took out so you can check the shift lever assembly and shift cables.
