How to Maintain and Fix an Alternator for 3.7L and 4.7L Engines on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?

Always disconnect the negative battery cable when beginning to service or repair the alternator on a 3.7L or 4.7L engine to stop any damage or injury from happening to the electrical system. After that, take out the drive belt that connects the generator to the crankshaft. First, take off the plastic insulator lid from the B+ output and remove the B+ terminal nut at the rear of the generator and next, detach the terminal. Depress the tab on the rear field wire connector to disengage it. After this, take out the bolt at the rear and the two bolts at the front. When you're done, take the generator from the vehicle.
