2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Starter Motor for 3.7L and 4.7L Engines on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: The first step is to link the solenoid wire to the starter motor, making sure it is joined on securely. After that, attach the battery cable to the solenoid stud and tighten the nut on the wire to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). Ensure the starter does not hang from the wire at this point. Connect and align the starter motor with the transmission and if it's an automatic vehicle, put the cooler tube bracket into place. Both bolts in an automatic transmission must be tightened to 50 ft. lbs. (68 Nm) and a manual transmission needs only one nut and one bolt, also tightened to this amount. After that, lower the vehicle and attach the negative battery side.
