2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Power Steering Pump on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before removing the power steering pump, you should siphon all the power steering fluid from the reservoir. After that, take out the serpentine belt. Make sure to leave the fitting where the high-pressure hose connects onto the pump, because if you remove it and it can spin or come loose, you'll need to tighten it again to 57 - 67 Nm (40 - 50 lb.ft.) before you can proceed. If the fitting is separated from the body, the inside spring and valve will drop out, calling for a replacement pump. With the fitting in place, remove the return hose (3) and next the pressure hose (4). Now detach the three bolts that hold the pump to the cylinder head through the holes of the pulley (1).
