2009 Dodge Ram 3500 Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Dimmer Switch for Headlamps on 2009 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: First, turn off the SRS by taking the negative battery cable out and isolating it and after two minutes wait for the system capacitor to discharge before you start the headlamp dimmer switch service. First, unscrew the fixing screw attaching the tilt knob and detach it from the tilt actuator on the column's left side. After that, with a screwdriver, remove the two screws inside the car, under the steering column, that secure the upper shroud to the lower one. Push the upper shroud inward on both sides above the parting line, releasing the snap and then lift the upper shroud off. Remove the center screw holding the lower shroud to the steering column and take the shroud off. Take out the wire harness from the multi-function switch housing at its rear end. Turn the steering wheel to reach the two screws that hold the switch to the housing and unscrew them. After that, draw the switch control stalk to the left of the vehicle to lift the switch out of the mounting housing.
