First, take out the rear propeller shaft to carry out service and repair on the driveshaft center support bearing. Mark the rear and front shafts as reference points on models 2500 and 3500 and remove the slip joint boot clamp after doing so. Release the shafts from each other by taking off the boot from the boot collar. Use Position Bearing Splitter Tool 1130 to align between the propeller shaft and center support bearing, then add Bridge 938 to the splitter to take out the center support bearing. On 4500 and 5500 models, with the rear propeller shaft out, label the rear shaft, the center support bearing yoke and the front shaft. First, take the joint out of the center support bearing yoke and then remove the center support bearing yoke nut and washer, throwing away the yoke nut. After removing the two yoke with a puller, place Bearing Splitter Tool 1130 between the center support bearing and the shaft, add Bridge 938 and remove the bearing using the tool.
