  A: You should begin the task by breaking and isolating the battery negative cable from its post. Following that, take out the master cylinder. Remove the vacuum hose from the check valve on the power brake booster without pulling the check valve themselves. If air bags are present, remove the steering column cover and the air bag as well. After that, remove both the mounting screws and the reinforcement behind the opening cover of the steering column. Get rid of the stop lamp switch. Use the tip of a small screwdriver to push the center part of the retaining clip out of the way, so it doesn't hold the push rod over the brake pedal. Remove the booster push rod from the pin on the brake pedal. After that, release the four nuts that connect the power brake booster to the dash, slide it ahead until its studs slip past the dash and take it out from through the engine compartment.
