  A: Start by taking out the negative battery cable from its joint and isolating it. After that, take out the master cylinder. Take the vacuum hose off the check valve attached to the power brake booster, not by taking the check valve out. Lift the steering column cover and take out the air bag, if your car comes with one. After that, remove the mounting screws and the reinforcement that is behind the steering column cover. Remove the stop lamp switch and make sure you don't use it again. Now, remove the retaining clip that holds the power brake booster push rod against the brake pedal by sliding a small screwdriver at the middle of the clip and turning it to let the clip's tang clear the brake pedal pin. Take the booster push rod off its place attached to the brake pedal pin. Next, unscrew the four nuts linking the brake booster to the dash panel, ease the booster forward until you can see the bolts are free and finally take it out from under the engine.
