2009 Jeep Compass Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Front Brake Caliper on 2009 Jeep Compass?
A: To start, press the brake pedal with a brake pedal holding tool, past the first 25 mm (1 inch), to disconnect the master cylinder from the brake system so brake fluid will not drain out while the lines are opened. After that, lift the vehicle, secure it and unscrew the wheel mounting nuts and remove the tire and wheel along with it. Remove the bolt that brings the brake flex hose to the brake caliper, taking off the two washers it brings with it. When removing the caliper guide pin bolts, notice that the upper one ends in a special sleeve, so it has to be put into the top mounting hole during reassembly. In the end, unscrew the two guide pin bolts for the brake caliper, move it off the disc brake adapter bracket and away from the pads and set it aside.
