2009 Jeep Patriot Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Clock Spring Assembly on 2009 Jeep Patriot?
A: To remove the Clock Spring assembly, separate the negative battery cable and wait two minutes so no accidental air bag deployment occurs. Turn the steering wheel until your front wheels face in the forward direction and stop the steering shaft from moving. Then take out the steering wheel from the steering shaft. If the Clock Spring is put back in place, put the rotor into the case before assembling the wheel to hold it correctly, otherwise, the Clock Spring needs to be centered again. Close the steering column as far down as possible and take out both the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column. Remove the multi-function switch on the right and then the switch on the left. Get rid of the three screws that hold the Clock Spring onto the steering column cover, then withdraw the Clock Spring from it to expose and disconnect the three wires at the back of the housing before you can take the Clock Spring away.
