2009 Jeep Patriot Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Ensure Proper Installation of a Steering Wheel on 2009 Jeep Patriot?
A: Before installation of the steering wheel, verify that the wheels are right in front and the blinker is turned off. Do not push the steering wheel onto the shaft found in your steering column. Line up the wide mounting spline on the steering wheel with the missing spline area on the steering column shaft, then push the wheel into position so that the Clock Spring doesn't bind. Connected the steering wheel retaining bolt (4) and tighten it to a torque of 50 Nm or 37 ft. lbs.. Hook the wiring connector (2) from the Clock Spring and place the driver air bag (3) into position. To avoid a dangerous air bag deployment, please carry out the air bag System Test procedure before reconnecting the battery. After the battery is connected again, test both the vehicle and all its systems.
