2009 Jeep Patriot Sway Bar Kit Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove a Sway Bar Kit on 2009 Jeep Patriot?
A: First, support the vehicle by raising it, then you can remove the front sway bar kit. If your car has an engine belly pan, remove it before performing the repair. Following that, take the rear engine mount off and remove the bolt holding the front engine mount in place. Take out the fasteners that secure the routing clamps for the power steering hose onto the crossmember. When removing the nut on each end of the sway bar kit, secure the link stationary at the lower stud. Remove the screws holding the sway bar bushing retainers to the crossmember and pull out the two retainers. Take out the two cushions from the sway bar kit by going through the slit in the cushions. Before taking the crossmember out, draw marks at the mounting points on the car, so you remember where it should go back. First, hold the crossmember up with a transmission jack and next, loosen and remove the four bolts holding the front crossmember to the body and then the two bolts connecting the steering gear to the crossmember. Put a bungee cord or something similar under the steering gear to stop it from sinking when you drop the crossmember. Decrease the height of the crossmember until you can take out the sway bar kit between the back of the crossmember and the body, without going too low. In the end, lift the sway bar kit out above the back of the crossmember.
