2009 Jeep Patriot Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Front Shock Absorber Strut Assembly on 2009 Jeep Patriot?
A: Before you begin, support and lift the vehicle, unscrew the wheel mount nuts and then take off the front wheel and tire. Mark each strut assembly as right or left when you take them off, keep them separate and make sure each part goes to its proper side because some are not interchangeable. After that, take out the screw that secures the flex hose routing bracket to the strut. Remove the nut that is holding the link to the strut by holding the stabilizer bar link stud still. The strut attaching bolts are serrated which means turning them is not allowed; hold them in the knuckle as you unscrew the nuts with a small hex wrench and then tap the bolts out using a pin punch. After that, stop both bolt heads from moving and take out the nuts that secure the strut to the knuckle, then unmight the two remaining bolts using a pin punch. Place the wheels high enough so the tires don't touch the floor and then eliminate the nuts on the upper mounting bracket at the strut tower. In the end, take out the strut assembly from the car. When removing the front suspension strut, look up the appropriate guide.
